Galaxy Zoo opens its doors!

Know your elliptical from your spiral? If you haven’t already visited the Galaxy Zoo then you should fly on over to find out all about it. It’s a great project to classify thousands of galaxies, from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, using the power of the Internet and it needs your help in doing so! You can be contributing to some real science whilst looking at some pretty cool pictures. Here’s a little spiral galaxy I found this afternoon!

In the shadow of the Moon

Last night I attended a preview screening of a new film called ‘In the shadow of the Moon’ about the Apollo moon landings. It’s an emotional, exciting and frequently amusing account of the program in the Apollo astronauts own words with previously unseen NASA archive footage and some great interviews. I thoroughly recommend you check it out when it comes out in cinemas on October 26th this year. Edit – I have now been informed the film will now be released on Nov. 2nd.
