In late February science writer David Bradley created a really neat project that charts places of scientific discovery, all around the world, using Google Maps. So far the map (embedded below) has over sixty important places pinned to it, from famous institutions like the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, to the homes of Darwin and Newton. However David is still looking for more to put on.
The sites currently listed cover many scientific fields, from biology to high energy particle physics. Astronomy related places, already on the map, include Jodrell Bank, the Arecibo Observatory and the Keck Observatory to name a few. So if there’s a scientific spot you think should be included on the map ‘tweet’ David or leave a message on his blog post here.
Thanks for the mention. I am keen to get to at least 100 places before the end of the month. Sites where a particularly important discovery was made are the preference. Any unique suggestions will get a credit for the person suggesting them, of course, either a web link or a link to their twitter page.
