If you’d like to contact me, my email address is below. I really do try my best to reply to as many messages as I can, but please note that I cannot guarantee a response.
If you have questions about getting into stargazing, or the basic workings of the Cosmos, you may find answers to what you’re looking for in the series of beginner’s guides I’ve started to produce here; they’re built around my most common FAQs so I hope they may be helpful.
I’m also on Twitter. You’ll find me there as @willgater.
Speaking requests etc. If you’d like me to speak at your organisation or event you can get in touch at the address above. Please note that I do not receive any public or institutional funding/support for my outreach and engagement work and as such charge a small fee (to cover my time and the work that goes into producing & developing lecture material) as well as travel expenses.
For scientists, research organisations etc. I’m very happy to receive messages about cool results or projects you’re working on, but please note that my news writing beat focuses pretty much exclusively on the fields of astronomy, planetary science & astrophysics. Additionally, please do not send unsolicited embargoed materials or generic press releases that have been (or will be) widely disseminated to the media.
Most of my news pieces are about developments that have key implications for our understanding of an object or the broader field. I’m particularly interested in findings that have an engaging element of serendipity or interdisciplinary work. See the ‘News stories’ section here for examples of the things I’ve been reporting on lately. Thanks!
